Mattress Mack
Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale is best known for his energetic, fast-paced sales pitches for Gallery Furniture, often ending with his trademark line, “saves you money!” His signature style began early in the company’s history when, facing financial hardship, he invested his last $10,000 in a television commercial. Dissatisfied with the original cut, he improvised a rapid-fire pitch on the spot—an approach that dramatically increased sales and became his hallmark. In 1999, he spoke to the British Deming Association about the influence of W. Edwards Deming on his management philosophy. He later co-authored Always Think Big (2002), sharing lessons from the challenges and triumphs of building his business.
Beyond retail success, McIngvale is widely respected for his extraordinary commitment to the Houston community. He opened Gallery Furniture as a shelter during Hurricane Harvey and Tropical Storm Imelda, again during the 2021 Texas winter storms, and extended support to evacuees from Hurricane Ida. Most recently, during Hurricane Beryl, he provided food, air conditioning, and charging stations for thousands. Through both business leadership and hands-on philanthropy, McIngvale has become a symbol of resilience, generosity, and unwavering civic spirit in Houston.

James W. Rudnicki
As a shareholder of Bush Rudnicki Shelton, P.C., I exclusively represent residential construction contractors and developers in challenges related to construction defect claims, contract negotiation, document drafting, real-property transactions, water code violations, and regulatory oversight.
My representative clients include many of the largest, production builders in Texas in all major markets as well as numerous regional builders and custom builders. I aggressively defend construction defect claims in an effort to resolve them efficiently and favorably where possible, and to arbitrate or try them when needed.
Timidity is the enemy of a favorable resolution.
With any profession or trade, experience matters. I have arbitrated or tried more than 50 cases to verdict, primarily construction defect claims.

Keith Young
With 30 years of diverse business and corporate experience including service in the U.S. Navy, Keith’s focus and passion is on helping business owners plan for their future. Following his successful sale of two franchises supporting the construction industry, it was fitting for him to become a business broker. If you are like many contractors, you are immersed in the daily grind of managing and growing your company, leaving little time to plan for the future. When it comes time to think about retirement or other reasons to exit a company, the goal is to maximize your company’s value in the marketplace.
Keith is adamant that there is no better time than the present for business owners to understand what potential buyers look for, keeping in mind they don’t value or pay for sweat equity. In this session, you will learn what you can do to convert day-to-day hustle into real, transferable equity to enhance your company’s attractiveness to potential buyers. Even if selling isn’t a viable option, the same actionable steps you learn can enhance your company’s value today.
